James married Mary Reeves on 23 Dec 1842 in Talledega County, Alabama. Mary (daughter of Richard Lawson Reeves and Alenna Rene "Allie" Bates) was born before 1822; and died. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

  2. 5.  Mary Reeves was born before 1822 (daughter of Richard Lawson Reeves and Alenna Rene "Allie" Bates); and died.

    Notes:

    Married:
Linda Davenport writes that "My Lucinda Reeves and James H. Dorsey (son of Alexander & Patsey) married before 23 Dec 1842 by W. McCann, Minister of the Gospel in Talladega Co, AL. Lucinda's sister, Mary Reeves, married James H. Dorsey, Jr. (son of James H. Dorsey, Sr. & Unknown) on the same date by the same person. The marriage licenses were returned on 23 Dec 1842. Supposedly, while in Alabama, Lucinda was pregnant, helped push a cow out of the mud & went into labor and died. I'm not certain what happened to the child, but James H. Dorsey, widower, was in Sabine County by 1860. All according to Blanche Finley Toole."

    Children:
    1. James L. Dorsey was born about 1844 in Alabama; and died.
    2. Thomas A. Dorsey was born about 1847 in Alabama; and died.

    Notes:

"Allen Chamber's father was Henry (d 1842, the son of Wm Chambers, Amer Rev Veteran who rec'd a land grant in Warren Co, Ga. He d ca 1832, in Wilkinson Co Ga, leaving his widow Martha* who was on the 1850 census. The Allen Chambers family came to Sabine County in 1860, where he died Feb 5, 1884. His wife died Apr 29, 1878. Both are buried in the New Hope cemetery." White & Toole, SABINE COUNTY HISTORICAL SKETCHES AND GENEALOGICAL RECORDS. Virgie Speights wrote that the Chambers came from Georgia in the middle 1800's and settled on Chambers Hill, north of Milam, where they built a log cabin, in which they lived until they moved a mile or so further north, and built another cabin. Eventually they built a new huge, handhewn, square logged house, which was still standing when she wrote of it in the mid 1960's, and was owned by Elzie Chambers, who used the original home as a corn crib.

*Martha Chambers on 1850 Wilkinson Co Ga census is widow of Henry Chambers, and NOT the widow of his father William (Sr) Chambers. Martha, Henry's widow, lived until 1873. (Email from Earl Scott Chambers).

Earl Scott Chamber's line of descent follows:

    -William Chambers and Elizabeth Patton

-William Chambers and Rebecca Stuckey (likely to be his 2d wife) (Henry, Joel and others descend from Williams first wife.....)

-William Chambers and Isabell Jane Garrett

-Lewis Morgan Chambers and Lillie Louise McCorkle

-Jessie Robert Chambers and Ella Horne

-Johnie Hue Chambers and Sadie Morris
