    MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be held at 10:30 A.M. Monday Feb. 20th at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church with Father Leo Rigatuso and Father Rodney Kneifl, Con-celebrants. VISITATION will be Sunday, Feb. 19th from 2:30 - 8:00 P.M. at St. John's Catholic Church with a Christian Mother's Rosary at 3:00 P.M. and a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 7:00 P.M. VISITATION will continue Monday one hour before services at the church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Fremont.
    Alvin was born June 22, 1941 in Wahoo, Nebraska to Frank J. and Adeline (Horacek) Spicka. He attended District #34 School in Colfax County and graduated from Clarkson High School in 1959. On July 15, 1967, Alvin married Mary Ann Pacula in St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Colon, Nebraska. Alvin was a retired farmer, mechanic, heavy equipment operator and fabricator. He was a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Howells and the Knights of Columbus. Alvin is survived by his wife, Mary Ann of Howells, NE; son: Andrew J. Spicka of Omaha; daughters: Kristin and husband Vernon Dirks of Sioux City, IA, and Stephanie and husband Brent Konvalin of Orangevale, CA; grandchildren: Chelsea, Seth, Hannah, Carson and Hunter; sister Wilma Racek of Lincoln; brother Edwin and wife Dorothy of Geneseo, NY; and many nieces and nephews also survive him. Alvin was preceded in death by an infant son, Francis, parents, grandparents, brother-in-law Robert Racek and nephew James Racek. Memorials are suggested to Howells Community Catholic School or Family's Desire.

    Adeline was born December 9, 1916 in Brainard to Joseph and Ann (Svoboda) Horacek. She grew up near Brainard on a farm and attended Holy Trinity Catholic School in Brainard. On June 3, 1940 she married Frank Spicka in Brainard. They lived on a farm by Ithaca until 1942 when they moved to Clarkson where they raised their family. In 1990 they moved to David City. Frank passed away on July 4, 1994.

    She is survived by one daughter Wilma Racek of Morse Bluff, two sons Alvin his wife Mary Ann Spicka of Howells, Edwin his wife Dorothy Spicka of Geneseo, New York; three sisters Rose Keelan of Lincoln, Alice her husband Charles Styskal of Omaha, Sally her husband Jacob Hotovy of Lincoln; one brother Don his wife Helen Horacek of Brainard; 8 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren

    She was preceded in death by son-in-law Robert Racek, two brothers Raymond Horacek and Leonard Horacek, a sister Loretta Svoboda, grandsons Francis Spicka and James Racek.
