Marvin L. Tinsley, 82, of Vidor died Monday, October 13 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.

Funeral servcies were held Wednesday, October 15, at Mauriceville Church of Christ in Maruiceville with a graveside service at Yellowpine Cemetery near Hemphill.

A native of Nacogdoches, he lived in Vidor 33 years and was a retired operator for Fina Refinery in Port Arthur. He was also an Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his son, Larry Tinsley of Mauriceville; daughters, Reba Norsworthy of Mauriceville, Annette Richard of Nederland and Beth Chesser of Beaumont; brother, Herbert Tinsley of Buna; sister Clara Seales of Hemphill; 19 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

She may have been born prior to 1880, as she was both listed as age 3 on the 1880 census, and older than sister Fanny, who was shown as born in 1878.

Dale Rubel shows that she married first Steve T. WILLIAMS on 10 Nov 1899 in Sabine County. They has one son, named after his father. Barbara Yancey Dore also shows she was married to S.T. Williams, but on 9 Dec 1896 in Sabine County.

Notes:

Robert Cecil McDaniel, a descendant, wrote in his autobiography that "My McDaniel ancestors migrated west from the Edgefield District near Spartanburg, South Carolina, and apparently stopped for a time in Mississippi. They were enumerated in the federal census of 1850, both in Itwambia County, Mississippi, and in Sabine County, Texas." He also indicated that they settled in the community later to be known as Fairdale, in the southeastern part of Sabine County.
