Alvin G. Kolar, 84, Lincoln, passed away on, June 11, 2011. Alvin was born to Joseph and Tina (Sladek) Kolar in Exeter, Neb., on March 18, 1927. Alvin was a lifelong farmer, as well as working for the City of Lincoln for over 30 years.

Alvin is survived by his wife of 60 years, Helen of Lincoln. Niece, Margie Schneider, Ulysses, Neb.; Nephew, Marvin (Christel) Kolar, Iverness, Fla. and their sons, John and Tommy; Great nephew, Gene Schneider, Ulysses, Neb.; Great niece, Sharon Elwin, Corpus Christi, Texas.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, June 16, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Roper and Sons Funeral Home. Burial will be held in the Bohemian National Cemetery, Milligan, Neb. at 1:30 p.m. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 15, 2011. Memorials may be given to the family for future designation. Arrangements by Roper and Sons Funeral Services.

Christina (daughter of Tomas "Thomas" Sladek and Julia Rozanek) was born on 7 Jul 1892 in Pierce, Pierce County, Nebraska; died on 4 May 1978 in Exeter, Fillmore County, Nebraska; was buried in Bohemian National Cemetery (Milligan South), Milligan, Fillmore County, Nebraska. Notes:

The daughter of Thomas SLADEK and Julia ROZANEK. Her siblings were Anton SLADEK, Thomas SLADEK, Emil SLADEK, William SLADEK, Edward SLADEK, Anna ROHLA, Emma ZELENKA, Julie STASTNY and Mamie HOLTERMAN. (Milligan, p 346).

They were the parents of Joe J. and Alvin KOLAR. At the time of Christina's death in 1978, she had three grandchildren: Mrs. Kenneth (Margie) SCHNEIDER, Mrs. Leonard (Betty) VLASAK and Marvin KOLAR and six great grandchildren (Milligan, p 345).

Notes:

The son of Josef SLADEK of Zbrorov and Anna ZLABECKY of Valenichich. Joseph died on 6 Oct 1919 in Fillmore County, Nebraska. Both are buried in Bohemian Brethren Cemetery. They were also the parents of Vaclav Sladek.

Tomas married Julia Rozanek on 9 Jul 1889 in Geneva, Fillmore County, Nebraska. Julia was born on 23 Aug 1869 in Visku, Volynic, Bohemia; died on 17 Nov 1938 in Fillmore County, Nebraska. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

She is the daughter of Josef ROZANEK and Marie JELINEK, who immigrated in 1874.

Notes:

The son of Jacob KASAK and Katherine KALNY. He came to Milligan around 1870, with his two children, John and Barbara. There is no proof his wife came with them. If she died here, she would have been buried in the Kasak cemetery that has no markers. He homesteaded the E 1/2 SW 1/4 of Section 30 in Turkey Creek Township of Saline County. This tract of land was sold to his daughter, Barbara KOLAR, after his death. He filed a second homestead, the W 1/2 SW 1/4 of Section 30 in Turkey Creek Township, and contracted as well for the E 1/2 SW 1/4 of Liberty Township in Fillmore County. His son, John Jr., took over this land after his father's death. He eventually gave the land to his son, Peter KASAK. His obituary states he dropped dead about three-quarters of a mile from his home when he started out for cattle. (Milligan, p 323).

Jan married Marie Simacek between 1850 and 1858. Marie (daughter of Matej "Mike" Simacek, Sr. and Marie ???) was born before 1829 in Bohemia; and died. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

She may have died either in Bohemia, or soon after they arrived in Nebraska.

The Milligan Centennial book listed her date of birth as January 28, 1840. This does not appear to be correct, as her son John Kasak, Jr. born in 1850.

It is noted that the birthdates shown for Jan Kasak's first and second wife, Marie Simacek and Alzbeta "Elizabeth" Cizek, as shown in the Milligan Centennial book, are IDENTICAL. This appears to be in error.
