  1. 2.  Samuel B. Angevine was born about 1816 in Vermont (son of William Angevine and Catherine Clarissa Sanford); and died.

    Notes:

Lorraine Smith Benkelman shows him as a sibling of Delia and Frank, whereas on some other trees, Delia and Frank are shown as grandchildren of William Angevine and Catherine Sanford, not their children. It is possible, therefore, that Samuel is also a grandson. More research should be done to verify this.

Samuel married Electa Hayward about 1840. Electa was born on 12 Mar 1819 in Otsego County, New York; and died. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

  2. 3.  Electa Hayward was born on 12 Mar 1819 in Otsego County, New York; and died.
    Children:
    1. Clarissa "Cora" Angevine was born about 1841 in New York; died on 12 Nov 1911 in Allegan County, Michigan.

    3. 1. Albert Angevine was born about 1844 in New York; and died.

Generation: 3

  1. 4.  William Angevine was born about 1782 in New York; died on 27 Jan 1832.

    Notes:

Evelyn Beran writes that he resided in Poultney, Vermont in 1808, and later removed to Victor, New York.

Lorraine Smith Benkelman, a descendant, shows him as a son of Anthony Angevine and Esther Burr.

William married Catherine Clarissa Sanford about 1808. Catherine (daughter of Oliver Sanford and Phebe Newton) was born about 1787 in Poultney, Rutland County, Vermont; and died. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

  2. 5.  Catherine Clarissa Sanford was born about 1787 in Poultney, Rutland County, Vermont (daughter of Oliver Sanford and Phebe Newton); and died.

    Notes:

    Married:
On the SANFORD-SHULSEN FAMILY tree, Evelyn Beran shows Catherine Sanford and William ANGEVINE as the parents of William and Albert Angevine, and does not list dates or locations of birth for either. Furthermore, she shows that William and an unknown wife were the parents of Delia and Frank Angevine.

Lorraine Smith Benkelman, a descendant, instead shows that William Angevine and Catherine Clarissa Sanford were the parents of Samuel B. Angevine (her ancestor), Delia ANGEVINE and Franks ANGEVINE.

This discrepency should be resolved through further research and documentation.

    Children:
    1. 2. Samuel B. Angevine was born about 1816 in Vermont; and died.

Generation: 4

  1. 10.  Oliver Sanford was born on 24 May 1744 in Milford, New Haven County, Connecticut (son of David Sanford and Rachel Strong); died on 18 Dec 1817 in Poultney, Rutland County, Vermont.

    Notes:

In 1777, Oliver served in the Connecticut Militia in the Revolutionary war. He was captured by the British at the time of the Danbury raid, April 1777, and carried to New York. (Connecticut Men in Revolution, p. 493)
After the war he sold his tannery and removed to Poultney, Vermont, where he purchased a farm. He owned one right in the Susquehannah Purchase as an original proprietor. (Milford Land Record Book 24, pp. 363, 561).

Oliver married Phebe Newton. Phebe was born about 1748 in Milford, New Haven County, Connecticut; and died. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

  2. 11.  Phebe Newton was born about 1748 in Milford, New Haven County, Connecticut; and died.

    Notes:

The Sanford genealogy incorrectly calls Phebe Newton the daughter of Joseph Newton; she was the daughter of Jonah Newtown and Phebe Platt. The error is based upon a misinterpretation of a deed: "All the children united in a deed conveying their rights in the estate and lands of Joseph Newton, late of Milford, Feb. 10, 1808, to Jonah Newton (Milford Land Record 24:363 & 561)." Joseph Newton, who died at Milford 11 November 1807, was Phebe's brother, not her father, and the Jonah Newton to whom the land was transferred was probably her other brother.
