Notes:

She was the daughter of John and Mary (Kral) Jess, and the oldest of their six children. Her brothers and sisters were Anna, Emil, Valentine, Emma, and an infant that died at the age of 3 months. She also had two half-siblings, Leo and Lottie Jess. (Milligan, p 220).

Mary married Frantisek "Frank" Bures on 17 Oct 1893 in Geneva, Fillmore County, Nebraska. Frantisek (son of Frantisek "Frank" Bures and Mary Kroupa) was born on 29 Nov 1871 in Volenice, Stra?ec?, Bohemia; died on 23 Nov 1940 in Geneva, Fillmore County, Nebraska; was buried in Bohemian Brethren Cemetery (AKA Cesky Bratri Cemetery), Fillmore County, Nebraska. They were married by the County Judge. Their marriage was witnessed by John Kabley, Anton Becwar, F.B. Donisthrope and John Barsby. (Milligan, p 220).

1. Anna Bures was born on 7 Aug 1894 in Fillmore County, Nebraska; died in Jul 1983 in Geneva, Fillmore County, Nebraska.
2. Helen Bures was born on 15 Aug 1897 in Fillmore County, Nebraska; died on 30 Dec 1980 in Geneva, Fillmore County, Nebraska; was buried in Bohemian National Cemetery (Milligan South), Milligan, Fillmore County, Nebraska.
3. Kristina Bures was born in 1899 in Liberty Township, Fillmore County, Nebraska; died in 1899 in Liberty Township, Fillmore County, Nebraska.
4. John F. Bures was born on 26 Aug 1901 in Liberty Township, Fillmore County, Nebraska; died on 19 Oct 1979 in Geneva, Fillmore County, Nebraska; was buried in Bohemian National Cemetery (Milligan South), Milligan, Fillmore County, Nebraska.

Married:
Mary, born 1859, married John JESS July 5, 1876, in the home of the Justice of the Peace Francis M. Shirley. They had six children: Mary was the first wife of Frank BURES, Anna married her couisn, Joseph JESS, Jr.; Emil; Valentine, Emma married Joe BARTA and a baby, born June 6, 1887, died September 15, 1887. Mary Jess died June 12, 1887. John Jess married (2) Frances ZDENEK January 26, 1888 and they moved to the State of Washington some time later (Milligan, p. 375).

It is possible that the date of their marriage may be incorrect, as their oldest daughter was born in either September 1874 or September 1875. The actual records should be examined if possible.

Notes:

He served in the Union Army before taking a homestead. After several years, he sold the land to his son-in-law, John HROMADKA, for $600. Returned to Europe alone, and never returned. (Milligan, p. 376).

John married Josephine Hrudicka before 1859 in Bohemia. Josephine was born before 1841 in Bohemia; died on 7 Feb 1899 in Fillmore County, Nebraska; was buried in Bohemian Brethren Cemetery (AKA Cesky Bratri Cemetery), Fillmore County, Nebraska. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

John and Josephine came from Kejic, Bohemia to the United States in 1860. The trip took six weeks. Theire first stop in Nebraska was Nebraska City. They later settled on a homestead, the E 1/2 SE 1/4 in Section 26, Liberty Township, Fillmore County. (Milligan, p. 375).
