    Graveside services for Mallori Nicole Wood, infant, were held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at Rosevine Cemetery. Rev. Pat Windham and Rev. Jerry Lewis officiated. She died November 19, 2008.

    Mallori Nicole Wood was born in Shreveport, LA on November 19, 2008 to Kelli and Matt Wood of Center.

    She is survived by her parents, Kelli and Matt Wood of Center, grandparents, Mike and Laura McCroskey of Hemphill, and Wayne and Jean Wood of Center.

    Starr Funeral Home in Hemphill was in charge of arrangements.

    A. J. Wood, Sr.

    A. J. Wood, Sr., 78, died at his home in the Pine Park area Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009.

    Wood was born August 16, 1931 in Shelby County. He was a retired machine operator for Temple Inland, and was greatly appreciated by those who worked with him. He loved the people in the Pine Park/Plainview Community and Sabine County. He was a Godly man and a long time member of the Pine Park Pentecostal Church where he served on the Board of Trustees until his death.

    Wood is survived by five sons, A. J. Wood Jr. and wife, Charlotte of Pineland, Gerald Wood and wife, Debbie, of Nacogdoches, Johnny Wood of Nacogdoches, Wayne Wood and wife, Jean of Center, and James Wood and wife, Angela of Hemphill; brothers Chester Wood of Broken Arrow, OK and Orville Wood of Clarence, OK; sisters, Evelyn Loven of Nacogdoches, Hazel Brown of Longview, and Janice Maloney of Broken Arrow, OK; 15 grandchildren; and 11 great-granchildren.

    Wood was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Katie Joe Kelley Wood; brothers, LaVaughn Wood and Douglas Wood; sisters, Gladys Loven and one grandchild.

    Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 10 at Starr Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed in the Pinehill Cemetery.

    Arrangements were under the direction of Starr Funeral Home Inc in Hemphill.

The couple have made the request that there by no gifts.

    Juanita Horton Smith

    Juanita Horton Smith, 75, of Pineland did at 12:25 p.m. Wednesday, August 6, 2003, at Hemphill Care Center in Hemphill. Mrs. Smith was born Nov. 2, 1927, in Bronson as a daughter of the late Anna (CRAIG) and John HORTON and had been a lifelong resident of Sabine County. She was a homemaker and a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church.

    Survivors: son, Roy Gene McCROSKEY and wife Debbie of Lufkin, and Mike McCROSKEY and wife Laura and Glenn McCROSKEY and wife Dwanda, all of Sabine County, daughters, Lynda BRIDWELL of Nacogdoches, Colleen ARRANT of Jasper, and Peggy BROOKS and husband Joe of Newton; a brother, Bobby Jim HORTON of Bronson; a sister Ann WRIGHT and husband Theo of Bronson; 18 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.

    Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Friday at the chapel of Starr Funeral Home Inc. in Hemphill with Bro. I.W. FERGUSON and Bro. Fred RANEY officiating. Interment followed at Rosevine Cemetery in Rosevine.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones at 10:00 a.m., with the Rosary beginning at 10:30 a.m. and the Mass at 11:00 a.m. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home. Mrs. Quick was born September 29, 1937 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Stanley W. Coker and Myrl Maurice (Oliver) Coker Freeman, and went to be with the Lord Saturday, December 19, 2015 at her residence. Mrs. Quick resided in Lufkin most of her life. She retired from the Hallmark Shop and was a member of St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church. She was a loving mother, granny and great-granny, and friend to her fellow residents and the staff at Parkwood Place. Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Richard E. Quick, Sr. of Lufkin; daughters and son-in-law, Amanda C. and Ronnie Hutchison of Lufkin and Laura McCroskey of Hemphill; sons and daughters-in-law, Richard E. II and Star Quick of Katy, Daniel and Connie Quick of Lufkin, Matthew and Trena Quick of Huntsville and Alvin and Chrystal Quick of Huntington; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Gloria Jean Rainineu of Ava, Missouri; stepsisters, Betty Dessauer and husband Ron of Cincinnati, Ohio, Sarah Gore of Silsbee, Debbie and Bud Froelich-Freeman of Phoenix, Arizona, and Mary Grace Freeman of Denver, Colorado; stepbrothers, Phillip Freeman and wife Ann of Floreine, Louisiana, Paul Freeman and wife Janet of Silsbee, and Carl E.
