    Notes:

    Charles Sterling Owens shows differing parents, in error, for Louise Tyree. He instead shows her as the daughter of William R. Tyree and Rhonda Ann Henderson.

    However, according to Paul Williams, The Princeton, Gibson County, Indiana death record for Louisa Tyree Sowder (Bk H48, Pg 121) shows her father as William Tyree and her mother as Ellen Forgy. Paul Williams also supplied the following copy of Louise's obituary:

    Actual text: Mrs. Lelu Sowder, 88, died at 3:15 P.M. Wednesday at the home of a daughter Mrs. Fannie Wallace of Princeton. She had been ill for the past 3 months. Other survivors include 2 sons, Thomas of Princeton and Samuel J. of Indianapolis, 3 other daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth McLemore of Oakland City, Mrs. Pearl Cox and Mrs. Thelma Lemmons both of Princeton; a sister Mrs. Amanda McLemore of Princeton; 2 step- bothers, Jesse and William Tyree of Princeton 22 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 P.M. Saturday in the Wright & Kendall Funeral Home by the Rev. Allan Vine. Burial will be in the Maple Hill cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 P.M. Thursday.

He further references the Rockcastle County, Kentucky 1900 census as the source of information on their ten children, Charles, Viola, William Thomas, Nannie, James, Elizabeth Ellen, Fannie Ray, Pearl, Samuel Jay and Lucy Thelma.

    Janice (db4565@dragonbbs.com) shows that they were also the parents of Charles, Viola, William, Nannie, James Mack, Fanny Ray, Pearl, Samuel and Lucy. It appears that most of the children also moved to Gibson County, Indiana.

    Paul Williams provided the following information regarding the Civil War service of William Tyree, who was in the Union Army:

    TENNESSEANS IN THE CIVIL WAR; (USA) TYREY, William: Blacksmith, Co K, 8th TN Cav

    Service records from National Archives shows William Tyrey enrolled in the 8th Cav, Co K, as a blacksmith on 20 Sept 1863 in Hancock County, Tennessee for a period of 3 years. He mustered in 27 October 1863 in Knoxville, Tennessee. The only other item in the file is one card. Remarks say that he had bounty due of $25 plus premium of $2 and this was never paid.

    1886 Residence Sterling - William Tyree - subject states that he was a Pvt. in the 8th Reg, Co. K, Tennessee Vol

    Paul also has in his files a copy of the original documentation - individual #467 [sic] Tyrey, William which confirms his address, other information suffered from lung disease, camp diahrrea,
    Knoxville, TN with a date of Dec 1864 (??)

    Actual text: William Tyree, aged 72 years died of brights desease Saturday night at the home of Wright McLamore near Temple. The funeral service was conducted Monday at two o'clock at the Goodman church by Elder A. J. Scott and the body was buried in the cemetery near by. The deceased leaves a widow and a large number of children which are grown.
