  1. 2.  Frantisek "Frank" Bures was born on 29 Nov 1871 in Volenice, Stra?ec?, Bohemia (son of Frantisek "Frank" Bures and Mary Kroupa); died on 23 Nov 1940 in Geneva, Fillmore County, Nebraska; was buried in Bohemian Brethren Cemetery (AKA Cesky Bratri Cemetery), Fillmore County, Nebraska.

    Notes:

    He came to America with his parents at eleven years of age to a farm northwest of Milligan. He retired from farming in 1933, moving to Geneva. Frank is buried near both his wives at Ceski Bratri Cemetery. (Milligan, pp. 220 and 221).

    Frank Bures
    Frank Bures was born in Volenic, Czech, November 30, 1871. He departed this life at the family home at Geneva, NE after an extended illness, Saturday, November 23, 1940 at 4:17 pm, at the age of 68 years, 11 months and 23 days. When about eleven years of age he came with his parents from Europe to Nebraska and located on a farm southwest of Exeter, where he grew to manhood. He experienced all the trials the pioneer families endured. He was married to Mary Jess. They were blessed with three children, two daughters, Anna Rhola and Helen Sluka and a son, John, who survive him. His wife passed away in August, 1901. He was united in marriage to Anna Wesley, May 1, 1902. They spent many happy years of wedded life. He leaves to mourn his beloved wife anna, two sons, Edward and George, four daughters, Josephine Kutler, Agnes Schmidt, Lillian Pribyl, and Alice at home, also seven brothers and two sisters. He spent most of his early life on a farm notheast of Geneva, where he took an active interest in community affairs. He was a member of Modern Woodmen of America camp at Geneva. In 1933 he retired and moved to his home in geneva to spend the last days of his life. He was a kind and loving husband and father and will be greatly missed in the home and by the host of other relatives and friends he leaves. Funeral services were held Monday, Novemer 25, at 1 o'clock at the Kritner Funeral Home at Geneva. Rev. K O savadil of Wilber officiated. the ladies trio of Milligan sang. Interment was in North Milligan Cemetary.

    Mrs. Anna Bures
    Anna Ruzicka bures was born June 18, 1878 on a farm near Wilber, NE. She departed this life at her home in Geneva, NE, Wednesday, August 17, 1949 at the age of 71 years and 2 months. She grew to young wonmanhood near Wilber and later moved with her parents near Tobias, NE. She was united in marriage to John Vesely (sic) and to this union was born one son, who died in infancy. May 1, 1902 she was married to Frank Bures and together they spent most of their lives on a farm near Geneva, later retiring and moving to town. Her husband preceded her in death, November 23, 1940. This union was blessed with six children, all of whom survive. They are Edward and George of Geneva, Mrs. Josephine Kutler of Eldorado, KS, Mrs. Agnes Schmidt of Fairmont, Mrs. Lillian Pribyl of Tobias and Alice, at home. There are also three step-children, Mrs. Anna Rohla of Exeter, Mrs. Helen Sluka and John Bures to whom she was the same as a mother. Several grandchildren, two sisters and one brother also survive. Her interests were always in her home and her family. Although she was bedfast several months she was patient to the very last and enjoyed having friends and her children with her. She was a member of the X.C.B.J. lodge of Exeter. A precious one from us is gone, a voice we loved is stilled. A place is vacant in our hearts, that never can be filled. May she rest in peace. Funeral services were held at the Kritner Funeral Home in Geneva, Saturday, August 20. Rev. K. L. zavadil of Wilber delivered the serman. Mrs. Harold a Rosenau sang. Short interment services were held at the North Milligan cemetary with Virgie Lee Havel and Mrs. I. A. Havel rendering the song service. Six grandsons acted a pallbearers.

    Notes:

    Frank was married twice. He had seven children by his first wife, Mary Kroupa, and married a second time to Josefa Marc. Frank and Josefa, along with his children from his first marriage, came to America in 1881. They purchased the NW 1/4 of Section 29 in Liberty Township from William Hart for $1600 on June 28, 1881. The Kansas City and Omaha Railroad Company purchased a strip of land 100 feet wide through the northeast corner of this quarter on March 28, 1887, paying them $142. The railroad was built on this strip from McCool Junction to Fairbury.

    Frank Bures had a brother, Vaclav, and three sisters who came to America. Marie who was married to Victor HRANAC; Anna, who was married to Frank KUCERA, and after his death she married Matej VOTIPKA and Josie, who was married to John BARNAS, and after his death to Frank PROKOP.
