  1. 2.  Charles Riley "Charlie" McLemore was born on 5 Mar 1874 in Mississippi (son of George Hiram McLemore and Louisa Moore); died on 17 Apr 1961.

    Notes:

At the time of the 1900 census, a Charles R. McLemore, born Mar 1874 in Mississippi and listed as single, was a Servant in the home of Thomas and Margaret Honeycutt of Extra Township, Ashley County, Arkansas. This appears to be Charles Riley McLemore.

At the time of the 1910 census, he was living with his brother Albert in Seminole County, OK and listed as widowed. It therefore appears he married sometime between 1900 and 1910, and was widowed within that period as well.

The following message board post indicates that he may have been the widower of Bessie Belle Williams:

Isaac Matthew McLemore married Affie/Affy Williams Dec. 19, 1889 in Clarke Co., MS. Isaac's brother, Charles Riley McLemore married Bessie Belle Williams, sister of Affie. Does anyone have any information at all on the family of Affie and Bessie Bell Williams?

In 1920 he was remarried, and listed with his wife and daughter in Choctaw County, Oklahoma, and by 1930 the family had moved to Fisher County, Texas.

His brother's 1940 obituary referred to him as being "...of Hugo," so it appears he returned from Texas to Oklahoma.

  2. 3.  Malinda Elizabeth "Lizzy" Boles was born about 1893 in Mississippi; and died.

    Notes:

Her last name is said by April Makerney to be BOLES. There is a possibility it may have instead been LATIMER, based on Floyd D. Latimer, brother-in-law, listed as living in the home of Charles and Elizabeth at the time of the 1930 Fisher County, Texas census.

  1. 4.  George Hiram McLemore was born about 1842 in Mississippi (son of Amos McLemore, Jr. and Elizabeth Johnston); and died.

    Notes:

April Makerney's notes show that George married Louisa MOORE, and that both died in the mid 1870's. This appears to be correct as four of their five children were enumerated with I.B. and Jane MOORE as of the 1880 Clarke County, Mississippi census.

Amos married Elizabeth Johnston about 1820. Elizabeth was born on 15 Feb 1802 in South Carolina; died on 31 Jul 1881 in Clarke County, Mississippi; was buried in McLemore Cemetery, Middleton, Clarke County, Mississippi. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

  2. 9.  Elizabeth Johnston was born on 15 Feb 1802 in South Carolina; died on 31 Jul 1881 in Clarke County, Mississippi; was buried in McLemore Cemetery, Middleton, Clarke County, Mississippi.

    Notes:

Some researchers show her as the daughter of Caleb Hill and Mary Flynt, and the sister of Nancy Perry Hill, who married Amos's brother, Richard McLemore. Others show her as Elizabeth Hill Johnson or Johnston, with their marriage taking place in Giles County, Tennessee. The Rev. William McLemore shows that according to correspondence and DAR records submitted to him by Joyce Sentell of Mobile, Alabama in 1996, her maiden name was Johnson. In May, 2008, Rev. Bill emailed that "An e-mail from a Ron Henson, 12 Feb 1998 says her surname was Johnston. She was born 15 Feb 1802 and died 31 July 1881. Their children were Albert Gallatin 1825, Richard, Caleb, John b. 1831, Catherine b. 1832, Nancy b. 1838, Elvira and Bettie. Harry McLemore of Jackson, MS, wrote me, "Amos lived in Clarke Co., in 1850. He later moved to Lauderdale Co. near Meridian and one time he lived in Copiah County."

    Notes:

    Married:
They are also shown by some researchers to be the parents of Sara McLemore, born 1819 and married a CARTER and Mary McLemore, born 1822 Lawrence County, Mississippi. This would fit with the 1830 census, which shows that the family had five girls under the age of 15 at that time.

    1. Sarah "Sally" McLemore was born about 1820 in Mississippi; and died.
    2. Louisa McLemore was born about 1821 in Mississippi; and died.
