Harry Noble writes that she graduated from San Augustine High School in 1945 and went on to earn a bachelor's degree from Stephen F. Austin. She had three children, two girls and a boy, six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren (as of March, 2008), and is retired from Human Resources in the Protective Services division.

Harry P. Noble, Jr.

Harry P. Noble, Sr., when he was a young man in his early twenties, moved ot Wichita Falls, Texas to make his fortune. While working a short period for his uncles in Noble Hardware, he met and married Maizie C. VINCENT. Like many young couples they soon started a family. Their first child was a girl and they named her Della Laverne. Another daughter was born and they name her Bobbie Lou. Then on December 6, 1929 their first son was born and they named him Harry P. Noble, Jr. Meanwhile, Harry Sr. a native of San Augustine and Sabine Counties, had borrowed money and opened his own business, a small radio shop....By the winter of 1934 the (great economic) depression had such a stranglehold on the economy, Harry Sr. had to close his radio shop. Since he owned a 270 acre farm in San Augustine County, he and Maizie decided to move to East Texas and ride out the depression there. On March 31, 1935, Laverne's tenth birthday, the family crowded into their small Ford car with all their earthly possessions and began the 380 mile trip to Robert S. and Della Noble's house in the northwestern part of Sabine County. They arrived at 11 a.m. the next day. The family's dog, Ginger, had ridden on the running boards all the way...Dad worked at a number of jobs to keep us fed. He had slaughtered, butchered and sold beef; developed and operated a cream route that extended all the way to Hemphill, and opened a radio repair shop. By 1938 a branch of the REA had headquarted in San Augustine (and) electrical lines were being constructed and houses wired for electricity. That's when Dad and I appeared in attics across the countryside wiring houses.

Harry married Maizie Carman Vincent before 1925 in Wichita County, Texas. Maizie was born after 1902; and died. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Isaac married Nannie Curren Watson on 5 Mar 1891. Nannie (daughter of Jacob Moore Watson and Nancy Curren Rowan Day) was born in Apr 1869 in Texas; died on 21 Sep 1905. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

In his column titled "Haints", Harry P. Noble writes that "My grandmother, Nancy (Nannie) Curren Watson, married Isaac (Ike) Monroe Noble on March 5, 1891. She died September 21, 1905, shortly after the birth of her sixth child, all boys. My Dad, Harry P. Noble, Sr. was their fifth child and was three at his mother's death. My Dad's uncle and aunt, Robert Scurlock Noble and Della Cobb Noble, took Harry Sr. in and raised him to manhood. So I always considered Bob and Della as my grandparents. Bob and Della lived in Sabine county, a quarter mile west of McMahan's Chapel."

Isaac married Frances Snead Scurlock. Frances was born on 10 Feb 1840 in Geneva, Sabine County, Texas; died on 12 Aug 1897 in Sabine County, Texas. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Michael Watson, b ca 1798 in Ga., m Pensey Raiford b 1798 in Ga., moved to Texas ca 1836, rec'd a second class land grant, and settled in Sabine County. He was a charter member of the Jackson Masonic Lodge at Milam. A son, JACOB MOORE WATSON, b Feb 11, 1835, d Sept 6, 1872, m Oct 15, 1857 at Milam, NANCY CURRAN ROWAN DAY. (White and Toole, p 68).

FindAGrave shows that Michael and Pensey were buried at McMahans Chapel Cemetery.

Jacob married Nancy Curren Rowan Day on 15 Oct 1857 in Milam, Sabine County, Texas. Nancy was born on 17 Jul 1835 in Mississippi; died on 23 Feb 1909 in Texas; was buried in Hemphill City Cemetery, Hemphill, Sabine County, Texas. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Notes:

White and Toole instead show her as as the daughter of Ortton Day, who they say was also the father of Daniel and Stacy Day. (White and Toole, p 68). On the annotated transcription of the Hemphill City Cemetery, Kay Parker McCary also lists her as a daugher of Ortton Day, and addes that her tombstone was inscribed "Wife of J. M. Watson Her many virtues form the noblest monument to her memory." On her FindAGrave memorial, created by Kay Parker McCary, she is shown as the daughter of Ortton DAY (died 1868, b. Hemphill Cemetery) and Elizabeth PENNINGTON.

On the death certificate of her youngest daughter, Dora, her maiden name was listed as Hale.
