Dona Dee Dunkerley Heath (58) was born December 26, 1946, in Corpus Christi and passed away November 12, 2005 in Lexington, TX

She was the daughter of Roland and Minnie Pearl Dunkerley of Houston.

Dee was raised in Houston and attended Spring Woods High School in 1965.

She met the love of her life, Thomas Heath and they moved to Lexington for the good life of the country from the 'big city'. There she was able to raise her chickens, horses, dogs and cats; grow a wonderful garden and work in the yard for which she had a natural gift.

Dee loved to read, and was a frequent visitor to the Giddings and Rockdale Public Libraries.

Dee was preceded in death by her husband of 23 years, Thomas Earl Heath; her parents, Mrs. & Mrs. Roland P. Dunkerley, Sr., her brother Beau Robert Dunkerley.

She is survived by her sister Lynn Murchison & husband Richard; brother Roland Dunkerley, Jr.; all from Houston; brother Keton Dunkerley and wife Jan; of Riverside; Aunt Flora Mae Brown of Kerrville; Uncle James Atchley of Corpus Christi; numerous nieces and nephews and many loving friends.

The family wishes to extend their deep appreciation to her friends for their love and support.

Service arrangements are pending with Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings. The family ask that in lieu of flowers, please donate to your local public library in Dee's name.

On November 11, 1954, Pleasant McLemore wrote this grandniece Ivy McLemore Yates that Russell had only two boys and that the younger son Roland had an "important job with a big oil co.---he is a graduate of A.M. College and has a wife and 5 children."

Roland married Minnie Pearl Atchley. Minnie was born on 5 Jul 1915 in Texas; died on 10 Nov 1988 in Harris County, Texas. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

In a January 4, 1944 letter to John Wright McLemore in Altus, Oklahoma, Pleasant McLemore wrote that Rosa's oldest son, Russell lived in Corpus Christi, Texas and "is boss machinest on the leading new paper there, his son Robert Dunkerley is foreman in the composing room. Rosa goes down there fishing ofern."

Melba Gene McLemore shows that he was the son of Samuel DUNKERLEY and Ellen NEEDHAM.He was a proofreader for the Houston Post Newspaper.

Walter married Rosa Ann Vernetta McLemore on 11 Apr 1889 in Bexar County, Texas. Rosa (daughter of Keton Jones McLemore and Nancy Jane Johnson) was born on 27 Jul 1869 in Seguin, Guadalupe County, Texas; died on 9 Dec 1954 in Houston, Harris County, Texas. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Notes:

Rosa was interviewed by a grandson in 1941, and her detailed description of the family makeup was the starting point for much of the subsequent genealogical research done regarding the Keeton Jones McLemore family. She loved to fish, a trait she passed on to her granddaughter, Barbara Nixon.

In 1944, a few years after her husband's death, Rosa was living at 8005 Grafton Street in Houston.

In a November, 1954 letter to his niece, Pleasant informs her that his sister Rosa had recently been diagnosed with "cancer on (her) lower intestine", a fact that her sons knew but did not want their mother informed of.
