At the time of the 1920 census, six year old Carl was living with his parents, Carol and Marie Conrad, both born in Germany, and his older siblings Helen, Theodore, and Ruth. His parents had emmigrated ca 1883, and Carl Sr was a druggist, owning his own store. They lived in Ward Three, West Allis City, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin.
