The early church members in Middletown, were, Nathaniel Collins, Thomas Allen, Thomas Wetmore, John Hall, jr., Samuel Stocking, sen'r., William Harris, John Savadge or Savage, sen'r., Robert and Andrew Warner, sen'r., (andGeorge Hubbard, sen'r., after his return from the New Haven colony.) The first meeting house erected there was in 1652--and the size of it, 20 by 20 feet. They had but one society there until 1703, when a second society was formed.

He had a grandson John, a son of Dea. Samuel. Dea.Samuel Stocking, of Middletown, son of George, of Hartford, died Dec. 30, 1683. Wife, Bethia. Children, Samuel 27 years of age, Bethia Stowe 25, John 23, Ebenezer 17, George, Stephen 10, Daniel 6, Lydia 21. He gave to Rev. Nathaniel Collins, hisminister, ?3. (See p. 77, No. 2.)

Bethia married second James STEELE. Children of Samuel and Bethia: Hannah diedyoung; Samuel; Bethia married Thomas STOWE; John; Ebenezer; George married Elizabeth; Stephen; Daniel married Jane MOULD; Lydia married first Joseph HOWELL, and second Edward RANNEY (or RAYNER); and Thomas.

    Under the heading "The Names of such Inhabitants as have right in undivided Lands." George Stocine appears as 36th name in list of 121 proprietors of Hartford. He is credited with 20 acres out of a total of 3,281.

    This was a list of freeman on the south side of Hartford.

    George Stocking's proportion of the upland division on the East side of river was 20 acres out of 3,109 total held by 89 proprietors.
