John W. Havel

Notes:

John W. HAVEL was the son of Catherine PETRICKA and Jacob HAVEL. He immigrated to Minnesota in 1867. An August 28, 1903 issue of the Milligan Times it was written that "He was a member of the Posse that chased the Jesse James gang out of Minnesota after they had looted a bank." His obituary noted that "He was a carpenter by trade and many buildings hereabouts will long attest to his labors; but at the time of his death he was farming on his place in Liberty Township." (Milligan, p 295).

John married Rosalie Theresa Punda on 10 Jan 1876 in New Prague, Lesueur County, Minnesota. Rosalie was born on 3 Sep 1850 in Strass, Bohemia; died on 21 Jan 1929 in Atwood, Rawlins County, Kansas. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Married:
They were married int he Catholic Church with Josef PETRICKA and Josef HAVEL as witnesses. They renewed their vows in Fillmore County, Nebraska on March 20, 1880, moving shortly thereafter to Kansas and took a homestead north of Ludell. They apparently separated, as John remarried Fannie Krejdle in 1886, and Rosalie moved, without John, first south of Ludell, Kansas, and eventually on to Atwood Kansas. (Milligan, p 295).

John married Frances "Fannie" Krejdle on 6 Aug 1886 in Liberty Township, Fillmore County, Nebraska. Frances (daughter of Joseph Krejdle and Fannie Barikova) was born on 1 Jul 1856 in Zbyrov, Prazky, Bohemia; died on 3 Sep 1933; was buried in Bohemian National Cemetery (Milligan South), Milligan, Fillmore County, Nebraska. They were married by Justice of Peace John HROMADKA in Liberty Precinct. Matthias KUBICEK and Frank BARTU were witnesses. They were the also the parents of Christina and Albina Havel, who both died as infants. (MIlligan, p 295).
