    Notes:

    Reyne was born on the same farm north of Milligan where Anna was born. He attended District School #6 with his cousin, Al, who lived with them. After graduating from Exeter High School, Renye attended business college in Lincoln, after which he worked in Alliance, Nebraska and the Lincoln Air Base. He spent two years in the Navy, and then attended the University of Nebraska. He left school early to help his father after he became ill. (Milligan, p 289).

    Lenora was from Crete, Nebraska. To this union, three children were born, Maribeth (Mrs. David STONE) lives in Richland, Minnesota, and has a daughter, Michelle. Marsha lives at home with her parents. Son, Robert, and his wife Jackie PRACHEIL live in Exeter. They have a daughter, Angela Marie. Robert farms with his father. (Milligan, p 290).

    Anna, being the good cook that she was, cooked in several of the cafes and the Erdkamp Nursing Home. She was also active in clubs, church activities and caring for her grandchildren. She and Joe loved to dance. (Milligan, p 289).

    They had one son, Renye Hass. They settled on a farm southwest of Dorchester where they farmed for 42 years. This was the place where Joe and his sister Elizabeth were born (Milligan, p 262, 289).

    Joseph came to America with his parents, Thomas and Katherine HASS, his sister, Barbara, and brother, Thomas. They joined his two brothers, John and James. (Milligan, p 289). Dennis Belohlavy shows his mother's maiden name as KASL. and that the family was from Prestice, Bohemia.

    Notes:

    The daughter of Rosie DUSIL and Joseph A. PROKOP. Frances was the oldest of eight children, one of whom died in infancy. She had four brother and three sisters. The family lived in a dugout on Turkey Creek near Wilber, near some non-hostile Indians. She and her sister and a teacher were caught in the blizzard of 1888. They followed a fence to her grandparents' home where they stayed for several days. (Milligan, p 289).

    Notes:

    Came to America in 1874 with his parents and three brothers and two sisters. They came directly to Saline County from New York, and settled on a farm three and one half miles north of Crete where they first lived in a Dugout. The Brt family was known as musical. The father played the "dudy," which resembles a bagpipe. Brother Frank played a bass horn and Vaclav played a Czech trumpet. They played for many weddings dances and social gatherings. (Milligan, p 211).

    Notes:

    She came to America at age 6. Her family originally settled in Red Oak, Iowa and then moved to a farm near Crete. Her parents died of the flu shortly after her marriage, and she raised her younger brothers and sisters. After her husband's death, she managed their farm for over 20 more years, with the help of her children. She lived in a sod hut, killed the snakes first thing in the morning and had a dog that actually removed cockleburs from her skirt in the evening. (Milligan, p 211).

    Notes:

    The exact date of Anthony's arrival to this country is not known, but it is known that he applied for his U.S. citizenship at Red Oak, Montgomery County, Iowa on December 8, 1870. The family moved to Saline County, Nebraska, and on May 4, 1871, Anthony registered an application for a homestead. His land was the s 1/2 NW 1/4, section 30, Turkey Creek Township. He "built a house of sod thereon, 12 x 14 feet in size with two windows and one door...plowed and cultivated about 40 acres of said land and...bored a well 48 feet deep, built a stable of straw and poles and planted a small grove of forest trees. (Milligan, p 261).
