It appears that William Quitman Carlton is a son of Henry Harrison Carlton and his wife Laura Bolton. However, this might be another William Carlton, as per the note below.

"My interest is in the TX Carltons particularly Shadrack Carlton b.1786 in NC died in TX in 1857 and his family by his wife Catherine Sloan. His son , I believe was William Quitman Carlton b.in Sabine Co. TX" posted by Beverly
