In 1857, property he owned consisting of "a female slave named Lett, about 16, and her one month old child, together with two horses and one yoke of oxen" were sold at a Sheriff's sale to satisfy a $1497 debt to his wife. They were seperated, amd Mary was suing to recover money from her mothers succession used by her said husband. Enlisted in the CSA with his brothers in New Orleans in 1862. They later transferred to Co B, 17th Infantry. Vincent was not captured at the Siege of Vicksburg and was paroled at Natchitoches at the close of the war.(Casagranda, 1850 Census, 83).
