Mrs. Matilda Jesse Dies This Morning

Mrs. Matilda Jesse, 79, died at 11:05 am today at her home, 118 South Maple. She had been in failing health for the last six months and had been seriously ill for the last two weeks. She was born in Sherman Twp on Jan 9, 1870, a daughter of Christopher and Edith Mecklenburg Foss. She had lived in Sturgis and vicinity all of her life.

Her husband, Andrew Charles Jessie (sic), died on Nov. 10, 1937. Survivors include a son, Clarence; a granddaughter, Sue Ann Jesse of Sturgis; two brothers Lou Foss and George Foss of Pasedena, CA; three sisters, Mrs. Henry Kruger and Mrs. Fred Deitrick of Centerville and Mrs. Louis Holtz of Sturgis. Friends are being received at the Moon Funeral Home where services will be conducted by the Rev. Jack Steele. Interment will be in Oaklawn Cemetery. Day and time of services will be announced after relatives in California are contacted.

Jesse and Maria Johanna Elisabeth Klevsaat) was born on 29 Jul 1861 in Sherman Township, St. Joseph County, Michigan; died on 10 Nov 1937 in Sturgis, St. Joseph County, Michigan; was buried in Oaklawn Cemetery, Sturgis, St. Joseph County, Michigan.
