Shown by some as the son of William and Hannah Ashmore, both of whom died prior to 1850 in Nacogdoches County.He has a military marker on his gravesite, Cpl Co B IBN CAV Texas State Trps. His tombstone is also inscribed 1814-1876, but the date of death must be in error, as he was listed on the 1880 Sabine County, Texas Census.
