Is Alca a widowed daughter in law? Or an unmarried daughter?

On December 20, 1848, Lewis gave James Ferguson "Power of Attorney" and conveyed his right, title, and interest in his headright of land of (1) league of land, for the sum of $1000. Witnessed by Abraham Large and Collins Latham.

His place of birth has been shown as both Kentucky and South Carolina.

Lewis married Unknown Wife Of Lewis Latham before 1817. Unknown was born about 1790; died before 1848. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

2. Mahuldah Latham was born about 1822 in Illinois; died about 1880.
3. Mastin Latham was born on 10 Jan 1826 in Illinois; died on 26 Jun 1909 in Sterling City, Sterling County, Texas; was buried in Montvale Cemetery, Sterling City, Sterling County, Texas.
4. Jeremiah Collins Latham was born in Oct 1828 in Illinois; died about 1907 in Sterling City, Sterling County, Texas.

Married:
Paul Latham has their date of marriage as March 10, 1833, in Clarke County, Arkansas. However, according to the 1835 Sabine District, Texas, census, Lewis was widowed. No wife is listed. Additionally, the children of Lewis and Nancy were not born until after 1849. Why would their be a 16 year gap after their marriage?
