Generation: 1

  1. 1.  Glisson Williams was born on 4 May 1811 in Duplin County, North Carolina (son of Joseph Williams, Jr. and Perthenia Bell); died about 1873 in Suwannee County, Florida.

Joseph married Perthenia Bell on 20 Jun 1810 in Duplin County, North Carolina. Perthenia (daughter of Hezekiah Bell and Martha Baggett) was born about 1785 in Duplin County, North Carolina; was christened on 12 Sep 1835 in Bethlehem Primative Baptist Church, Quitman, Brooks County, Georgia; died about 1847 in Lowndes County, Georgia. 2. 3.  Perthenia Bell was born about 1785 in Duplin County, North Carolina; was christened on 12 Sep 1835 in Bethlehem Primative Baptist Church, Quitman, Brooks County, Georgia (daughter of Hezekiah Bell and Martha Baggett); died about 1847 in Lowndes County, Georgia.

    Notes:

Darrell Bell's website, referenced below, notes that "Along with her sister Elizabeth, and Elizabeth's husband Duncan Morgan; and her brother Duncan Bell, they left Noth Carolina. This family group was found to be in Decatur County, Georgia in 1830.

In 1840 the same group was found on the Federal Census for Lowndes County, Georgia. According to the Williams Family, Perthenia died in 1847 in Lowndes County, the area that they resided in is possibly part of what's now Brooks County, Georgia.

New information for Perthenia, received from Linda Hughes, great-great-grand-daughter indicates that Perthena Bell Williams Morgan united with Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church, September 12, 1835. Further information from this source indicates that she possibly died about 1839. Bethlehem was located in the Old Lowndes County, present day Brooks County. Information also indicates that her husband, Reuben joined on September 13, 1835. Baptism was on the respective dates."
