Newton County Historical Committee, , "Glimpses of Newton County History," 1982, contains several pages of biographical information about this family as well (pp. 167-169).

It was noted that the Trout Creek Cemetery in Newton County, near the intersection of FM 1416 and Hwy 87, is the final resting place for at least six generations of this early pioneer family. Alexander Bean and his wife Christina were said to have been married, supposedly in Scotland, and came to America settling in the Ninety-Sixth District, South Carolina which would later become Edgefield District. According to census records, their children were all born in South Carolina. A copy of deed of the selling of one hundred and thirty-four acres of land in Edgefield District near Little Stephens Creek which had been inherited by Alexander and Christina's children is recorded in Deed Book 32, pp. 196-198 on March 7, 1815. Listed as present were Christina Bean and her children James, Alexander, John Elizabeth, Isabella, Sarah, Levicy adn William, then a minor.
