Clyde married Emily McClairy McLemore on 1 May 1920. Emily (daughter of Samuel McFarland McLemore and Rose Ella Bean) was born on 22 Apr 1901 in Erin, Jasper County, Texas; died on 12 May 1973 in Houston, Harris County, Texas; was buried in Forest Park (Forest Park Lawndale) Cemetery, Houston, Harris County, Texas. According to Minnie McLemore, he could not read or write; Rose Ella taught him as well as her children. According to Othalia (Mrs. Lee) McLemore, Sam wore two sets of glasses at once, pushing one up on his forehead. He died after getting a stone bruise on his heel at his home in Erin, Texas.

The information about Samuel McFarland McLemore and his descendants was generously provided by Nan McCoy Kittell. It is from a Living Family History loose leaf notebook she prepared for the fifth anniversary of the Samuel McFarland McLemore reunion held in June 1984. Her information was updated at subsequent reunions. The final reunion was held in 1999 at the Zion Hill Baptist Church in Jasper.

Samuel married Rose Ella Bean on 20 Dec 1891 in Jasper County, Texas. Rose (daughter of James Bean, Sr. and Martha Sarah Garrett) was born on 24 Nov 1862 in Texas; died on 29 Mar 1943 in Kirbyville, Jasper County, Texas; was buried in Zion Hill Cemetery, Jasper, Jasper County, Texas. Her Texas Death Certificate, viewable online at FamilySearch.org, Texas Deaths, 1890-1976, shows her as a housewife, and daughter of James Bean and Martha Garrett of Georgia. The informant was Mrs. Minnie Morgan.

Both Samuel and Rose Ella had been previously married, and each had children of their own prior to their marriage. Rose Ella's children, Cecil, Hattie and Annie were raised by Samuel. According to Nan McCoy Kittell, the grandchildren of Sam and Rose Ella called them "Other Papa" and "Other Mama."
