  1. 8.  Robinson "Robertson" Bean was born about 1823 in Edgefield County, South Carolina (son of John Egbert Bean and Jane Youngblood); and died.

    Notes:

First name variously shown as Robson/Robinson/Roberson/Robertson/Robert Bean.

Said to have married Jerusha Wilmoth Reece/Reese, and they had a large family.

Newton County Historical Committee, , "Glimpses of Newton County History," p 168, notes that Robinson Bean, eldest son of John and Jane, was tall, hardy, had red hair and blue eyes. Most all of the early Bean settlers had fair complexions, red hair and blue eyes. The Bean men seemed to have inherited tendencies to be marksmen with firearms and to have deep set eyes and heavy eyebrows. His name appeared on the 1860 Jasper County, Texas census, as a farmer, age 37. His wife was Jerusha REESE, born in Georgia, age 38. They had nine children, four boys and five girls. In 1864, he bought a five hundred acre tract of land in Newton County from Emily CONN for $310. He had been living previously in Jasper County, probably near Magnolia Springs. Robinson served in Company I of the 24th Regiment Texas Cavalry in 1865. It has been told that he served as a medic although he did not have a license to practice medicine. In 1870, he ws still listed on the Jasper County, Texas census as a farmer, and in 1880 he is listed on the Orange County census as a blacksmith. Orange had become the destination of most of the logs that were harvested upstream, and the logging industry was booming.

The exact location of Robinson and Jerusha's graves can not be verified. However, their son William is buried in Trout Creek Cemetery at the west end near a large Cedar tree. Beside his grave are two unmarked graves, thought to be those of Robison and Jerusha.
