Mary Frances King, 73, of Hemphill, Texas passed away February 13, 2020 in Lufkin, Texas.

Mary was born on September 11, 1946 in San Augustine, Texas to Joe Alford Womack and Vercie McCary. She was a loving mother and homemaker.

She is survived by son, Nathan King and wife Michelle of Cove, Texas; daughters, Vickie Dickerson and husband Mark of Milam, Texas, Dena McGill and husband Arnold of Pasadena, Texas, and Angie Dorsey and husband Woodie of Milam, Texas; brother, Doug Womack and wife Lynn of Milam, Texas; grandchildren Scott Simpson and wife Heidi, Cory Simpson and wife Loni, Brittany Fletcher and husband J.T, Brandon McGill, Travis Dorsey, Bethany Dorsey, Jacob Dorsey, Tyler King, and Garner King; great grandchildren Gunnar, Hannah, Vador, Hazel, and Teagan.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and great grandson Hunter Simpson.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, Sunday February 16, 2020 with Funeral Services to follow at 12:00 PM in Starr Funeral Home Chapel, 510 Starr Street, Hemphill, Texas with Bro. Rusty Hammett officiating.

Burial will follow services in Rosevine Cemetery under the direction of Starr Funeral Home with Scott Simpson, Cory Simpson, Brandon Mcgill, J.T. Fletcher, Travis Dorsey, Jacob Dorsey and Tyler King serving as pallbearers.

No middle name is listed on the Texas Birth index listing for daughter Mary Frances, but shown as Alford in her obituary. it is listed as Alfred on the Texas Birth Index listing of his son, Douglas Alfred Womack.

On his own Texas Death Certificate he is listed as Joe Alfrod Womack, a son of John Henry Womack and Bessie Weatherly. The informant was his son, Douglas. On his Find A Grave memorial page he is shown as Joe Alford Womack, however his double headstone is inscribed only with Joe.


His usual occupation was shown as Chicken Farmer.Although he died at the Southmore Hospital in Pasedena, TX, his residence was in Bronson, Texas. He was also listed as widowed.

Joe married Vercie Mae McCary. Vercie (daughter of Muncie Lee "Bill" McCary and Fannie Mae Russell) was born on 23 Aug 1927 in Texas; died on 12 Jul 1979 in Nacogdoches County, Texas; was buried in Rosevine Cemetery, Rosevine, Sabine County, Texas. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

The informant on her Texas Death certificate was her daughter, Mrs. Francis KING. Although she died in Nacogdoches, Vercie was a resident of Bronson, Texas at the time of her death, living 2 miles west of FM Road 1.

Notes:

Although his Texas Death Certificate shows that he died at the Ben Taub General Hospital in Houston, his usual residence was 3 miles east of Bronson, on Highway 184, in Sabine County, Texas.
