His Texas Death Certificate shows him as the son of Frank Wilson and Jane Jackson, both also born in England. Occupation was listed as Sexton at School. The informant was his wife, Mrs. J. T. Wilson (nee Sallie M. Burrows).

At the time of the 1930 Federal Census, John and his wife Sally were living in Manor, Texas. He was shown as a farm laborer. Living in the home with them were their two sons, Leland (18) and Lonnie (16), Nephew Robert Wilson, a 23 year old garage Mechanic, and his mother-in-law, the widowed Emma Burrows, age 76.

John married Sarah "Sally" M. Burrows on 14 Jan 1903 in Travis County, Texas. Sarah (daughter of William Benton Burrows and Emma Ellen Mosley) was born on 16 Mar 1882 in Gonzales County, Texas; died on 13 May 1962 in Austin, Travis County, Texas; was buried in Oakwood Cemetery Annex, Austin, Travis County, Texas. 1. Leland Roy Wilson was born on 10 Mar 1911 in Texas; died on 24 Mar 1995 in Travis County, Texas; was buried in Austin Memorial Park Cemetery, Austin, Travis County, Texas.
2. Lonnie Wilbur Wilson was born on 7 Dec 1913 in Manor, Travis County, Texas; died on 25 Feb 2007 in Temple, Bell County, Texas; was buried in Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery, Pflugerville, Travis County, Texas.
