Notes:

Kenneth "Joe" Conn was born in La Plata on September 13, 1930. He passed away peacefully on June 18, 2014, in Springfield, Missouri. Joe's beloved wife, Mary Jane, preceded him in death in January 1996. He is survived by his three children (Debra Wilburn, Joan Petty, and Gram Conn), and eight grandchildren (Larry, Kenneth, and Jodie Wilburn; Connor, Hudson, and Makayla Petty; and Travis and Hunter Conn), and six great-grandchildren.

Joe was a Navy veteran who served his country during the Korean War. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Stephen F. Austin University. Joe taught agriculture and science at Hemphill High School, and served as a sales representative for Ralston Purina.

Since 2004, Joe lived in Springfield Missouri. Joe loved singing, His Lord Jesus Christ, and the anticipation of being reunited with his wife Mary Jane in heaven.

Visitation is scheduled Friday, June 20, at 2:00pm, at Starr Funeral Home in Hemphill, Texas. Funeral service will follow at 3:00pm in the chapel of Starr Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Gravelhill Cemetery near Hemphill.

Kenneth married Dorothy Fay "Dot" Smith before 1955. Dorothy (daughter of Dalton "Shine" Smith and Lemmie Beulah Coussons) was born on 17 Oct 1936 in Sabine County, Texas; died on 14 May 2008; was buried in Hemphill City Cemetery, Hemphill, Sabine County, Texas. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

In her annotated transcription of the Gravel Hill Cemetery, Kay Parker McCary notes that his headstone was inscribed "None knew thee but to love thee" and also shows that he had a Military Marker: Gram Berry Conn - Texas Cpl Co. D 143 Inf 36 Div WW I. She notes that he was a son of William Henry "Bill" Conn & Florence Ferguson - w Mary Williams - Gram had a twin brother, Green Berry Conn that died as a baby, buried in LA.

In her annotated transcription of the Gravel Hill Cemetery, Kay Parker McCary shows her as Mary Rebecca Conn, and that she married first Gram Berry Conn, second Ivy Ferguson, and third R. R. "Bobby" Butler; and that she was a daughter of Benjamin Grant Williams and Maggie Leona Allen.
