    Claude Joe "Bud" Strickland, 77, died Thursday afternoon in the Hemphill Care Center. He was born in Hemphill, Texas, to William "Bill" Riley and Eula Mae Humble Strickland. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1955 through 1957 and in the reserves through 1963. A resident of Hemphill he worked in construction as a project manager.

    Mr. Strickland is survived by his wife Sandra Strickland, his sons; Joe Bryan Strickland and his wife Jeff of Hemphill, Mike Strickland and his wife Sonya of Hemphill, his daughters; Stacey Hamilton and her husband Joe of Hemphill, Dana Hansen and her husband Billy of Brookeland, his step-children; Theresa Havard and her husband Michael of Hudson, TX, Michael Hobbs and his wife Tonya of Central, TX, and Jimmy Hobbs and his wife Mindy of Grand Saline, TX. His grandchildren; Jeanie Mosley Mikeman, Michael and Jesse Strickland, Matthew and Robert Hamilton, Reagan Ozan and Tyler Hansen, Kaylee Havard, Logan and Emma Hobbs, Hunter, Brandon, Madelyn and Beaugh Hobbs, and nine great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters Faye Gibbs and her husband Elmo of Colmesneil, TX, and Johnnie Mae Seago of Beaumont.

    He was preceded in death by his father Bill Strickland, mother Eula Mae Williams, Step-father Howard Williams, Step-mother Allie Morris Seago Strickland, sisters; Lucille Strickland, Billie Mae Warrick, Gladys "Sissy" Dykes, Nancy Eloise Adams, Laverne "Bunny" Duvall, step-brother Paul "Monkey" Seago, and grandson Jason Mosley.

    Visitation will be from 5:00PM until 8:00PM, Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, in the Starr Funeral Home, 510 Starr St., Hemphill, Texas. Funeral services will be at 11:00AM, Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, in the Starr Funeral Home Chapel. Cremation will be under the direction of Starr Funeral Home.

    Sara Pearl Strickland, 83, of Bronson, Texas passed away Wednesday, November 2, 2022 in Legacies Nursing and Rehab, Hemphill, Texas.

    Sara was born in Jasper, Texas on February 8, 1939 to Needham O. Peace and Florryee Jones Peace. She was a graduate of Glenmora High School in Glenmora, LA and later worked as a teacher's aide at West Sabine ISD for many years before retiring. She was member of Bronson Baptist Church and loved reading, especially her bible. She also enjoyed working in her yard, cooking and loved talking and visiting with friends.

    She is survived by her son, Mike Strickland and wife, Sonya, of Hemphill; daughters, Stacey Hamilton and husband, Joe, of Hemphill and Dana Hansen and husband, Billy, of Brookeland; grandchildren, Michael Strickland and wife, Laurel, Jesse Strickland and wife, Caci, Matthew Hamilton and wife, Britni, Robert Hamilton and wife, Kimberly, Reagan Ellison and husband, Trey, Tyler Hansen and wife, Nicki, Jeannie Blue and husband, John, and J. B. Mikeman; and great grandchildren, Cameron, Logan, Harleigh, MacKenzie, Ryleigh Jo, Henley, Holden, Cade, Collin and two more on the way.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, Needham and Florree Peace; son, Joe Bryan Strickland; daughter-in-law, Jeff Strickland; brother, N. O. Peace, Jr.; and grandson, Jason Mosely.

    Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, November 4, 2022 at Starr Funeral Home, 510 Starr Street, Hemphill, Texas.

    Graveside services will begin 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 5, 2022 in Spring Hill Cemetery under the direction of Starr Funeral Home with Bro. Jerry Gilbert officiating. Serving as pallbearers are Jesse Strickland, Matthew Hamilton, Robert Hamilton, Tyler Hansen and Trey Ellison.

    Gwendolyn Jacks Collins passed away October 14, 2010, at home. She was born in Sabine County to Marion and Bessie Woods Jacks and has lived in Sabine County all her life.

    Gwen was survived by her daughter Sonya Strickland, of Hemphill; two brothers, Lloyd Jacks of Center, Marion "Dick" Jacks of Carthage; two sisters, Ethel Droptini Louis of Pineland, Florence McClelland Wells of Hemphill; five grandchildren, Sean and Tanya Ebbert, Gary Stewart, Michael and Jesse Strickland; four great grandchildren, Amber Humphrey, Kayla Ryland, Logan and Cameron Strickland.

    Funeral Services will be at 2:00 pm, Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010, in the Starr Funeral Home Chapel, 510 Starr St., Hemphill, TX.

    Eula Mae Williams

    Funeral services for Eula Mae Williams, 89, of Hillster were held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 20, 1995, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home chapel in Beaumont. Interment was at Forest Lawn Cemetery.

    She died Wednesday, Jan. 18, 1995, at a Woodville hospital.

    She was a native of Orange and had formerly lived in Beaumont several years before moving to Tyler County a year and a half ago. She was a retired nurse for St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.

    Survivors: a son, Claude Strickland of Bronson; daughters, Faye Gibbs of Hillister, Laverne Duval of Quartz Hills, California, and Bessie Carlton of Houston: 16 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great granchildren.
