    Obituary

    Rufus Maxie McLemore, 87, died Wednesday in the VA Hospital, Houston, TX. Rufus was born in Hemphill to Ira and Alma Bragg McLemore and was a lifetime resident of Hemphill. Rufus left school at an early age to join the CC's. When old enough he joined the Marine Corps and served in WW II. When he returned home he owned and operated McLemore's Garage until retirement.

    Rufus is survived by his son Maxie and wife Maryanne McLemore of Victoria, TX, his daughter Charlotte and husband Gene Peters of Cypress, TX, eight grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Clovis.

    Visitation will be from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm Friday, Sept. 17, 2010, in the Starr Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Saturday, Sept. 18, 2010, in the Starr Funeral Home Chapel with Military Honors. Burial will follow in the Hemphill Cemetery.

    Clovis Lavern McLemore
    April 9, 1927 - March 12, 2010

    Clovis Lavern McLemore, 82, died Friday evening in the Hemphill Care Center after an illness. Clovis was born in Hemphill to Henry and Naomi Hogan and had lived in Hemphill most of her life. Clovis attended the Rosevine Church of God and was a member of the Hemphill VFW Ladies Auxillary.

    Mrs. McLemore is survived by her husband Rufus McLemore of Hemphill, her daughter Charlotte Peters and husband Gene of Cypress, TX, her son Maxie McLemore and wife Mary Anne of Victoria, TX, eight grand children, seventeen great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. She is also survived by her brother Wilson Hogan of Fort Worth, four sisters, Christine Bass of Diboll, Merline Elrod, Dorothy Chaney, and Patsy Vrooman all of Hemphill.

    Visitation will be Sunday, Mar. 14, 2010, from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm in the Starr Funeral Home, 510 Starr St. Hemphill. Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm, Monday, Mar. 15, 2010, in the Starr Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in the Hemphill Cemetery.
