Rev William P. McLemore wrote that "Mike dated my sister, Ann Schindler McLemore, when we were attending Hampton High School in Hampton, Virginia, in the early 1950's. Both of our fathers were stationed at Fort Monroe at the time. They were married shortly after he graduated from the Virginia Military Institute in 1959." After Ann's death in 1991, he married second Karen Biddle, at St. John's Episcopal in Roseville, California, on 28 August 2004. He died at home in Linoln, California, after an extended illness. Michael was a Lt. Col in the US Army.

Ephraim Hester McLemore was born December 20, 1903 on the farm of his father, Tilghman Richard McLemore, west of Meadville, Mississippi. When he graduated from High School, he received an appointment to the United States Military Academy, West Point, New York. He graduated on June 9, 1928 and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Field Artillery. "Mac", as he was known by his army friends, soon arrived in the San Antonio area serving with the Field Artillery School at Fort Sam Houston. Here, he met Edith Adeline "Peggy" Pearman and they married November 10, 1931. June 1, 1937, Mac and Peggy moved to West Point, New York, where he became an Instructor in Mathematics at the United States Military Academy. It was here that their three children were born: William Pearman, Ann Schindler, and Tilghman Richard, October 21, 1940. During World War II, McLemore fought in the Pacific as an artillery officer for which he received several commendations including the Bronze Star Award. In July of 1948, he became the Assistant G-4 for the United States Armed Forces in Japan under General Douglas MacArthur. His military career ended with a medical retirement at Fort Monroe, Virginia, in 1955. His first wife had died and he remarried a Betty Sue Lindsay. After years of retirement in Front Royal, Virginia, he died November 19, 1973 and was buried in Arlington Cemetery.

Ephraim married Edith Adeline "Peggy" Pearman on 10 Nov 1931 in San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas. Edith (daughter of William A. Pearman and Edith Keller Schlindler) was born on 9 Jul 1912 in Warrensburg, Johnson County, Missouri; died on 29 May 1952 in Fort Monroe, Hampton (Independent City), Virginia; was buried in National Cemetery, Hampton (Independent City), Virginia. Edith was named after her mother, and she was born in Warrensburg, MO, where her father, William Arthur Pearman, was Rector of an Episcopal Church. He was later the rector of St. Paul's Memorial Episcopal Church in San Antonio, Texas

Mrs. Edith S. Pearman

Services for Mrs. Edith S. Pearman, 88, of 2731 Elawatha St. will be at 3 p.m. Monday in the St. Paul's Episocopal Church. Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Park.

Mrs. Pearman, who died Friday, was a former president of the Daughters of the King of the Episcopal Diocese of West Texas and a resident of San Antonio for 30 years.

She is survived by two sons, Robert W. Pearman of Detroit and Frederick K. Pearman of San Antonio; one sister, Mrs. Paul Bargamin Sr of Lynchburg, Va; eight grandchidlren and 10 great grandchidlren.

Arrangements are by Porter Loring Mortuary.
