  1. 12.  James Edwin Gentry was born on 3 Jun 1915 in Stephens County, Oklahoma (son of Arthur Lemoyne "Al" Gentry and Myrtis Burch); died on 11 Jan 2006 in Wichita Falls, Wichita County, Texas; was buried in Crestview Memorial Park Mausoleum, Wichita Falls, Wichita County, Texas.

    The Duncan Eagle Thursday, November 29, 1935 James Gentry Will Head DeMolay Club-- James Gentry was elected master councilor of the Duncan DeMolay Chapter at the annual election of officers Tuesday night. Hudson Coombs was named senior councilor and Bill Robinson was elected to the junior councilorship. Two pledges, Alton Askins and Earl Fisher were given final initiation degrees. Other officers will be appointed soon.

    James E. 'Jim' Gentry January 12, 2006

    James E. (Jim) Gentry, 90, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2006, in Wichita Falls.

    Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 13, 2006, at First Christian Church of Wichita Falls with Dr. David Hartman officiating. Entombment will follow at the Crestview Memorial Park Mausoleum. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hampton Vaughan Crestview.

    Jim was born on June 3, 1915, in Duncan, Okla., to Arthur and Myrtis Gentry. On Feb. 28, 1942, Jim married Alma Melissa Givens. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II in Europe. He continued his military service in the Army Reserve attaining the rank of Lt. Colonel. He founded Jim Gentry Lumber Company in November 1965. He operated the business for 30 years before retiring in 1995. He served as President of the Lumberman's Association of Texas and also as President of Southwest Rotary receiving the Paul Harris Fellow. He was a member of First Christian Church for 49 years and served as a Deacon and Chairman of the Property Department.

    Survivors include his wife, Alma Gentry; sons, Jimmy Gentry and wife Sharon, Fred Gentry and wife Susie, and Danny Gentry all of Wichita Falls; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Marie Sanders of Corpus Christi, Texas, Mary Helen Newton and husband Leland of Ada, Okla., and Dorothy Jeanne Eldridge of Shreveport, La.

    The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 12, 2006.

    Alma "Lou" M. Gentry, 91, died Friday, Jan. 15, 2010, in Wichita Falls.
    Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Christian Church Sanctuary. Entombment will follow in the Crestview Memorial Park Mausoleum under the direction of Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home.

    Alma Gentry was born September 1, 1918, to Miles Edward & Beulah Grace Givens in Ninnekah, Okla. Alma died peacefully Friday, January 15, 2010, at 91 years of life. Alma was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, James; brothers, Percy, Doris (DA); sisters, Verna, Alta, Evelyn, Maurine, & Bobbie; great-grandson, Alexander Lee. Alma was a devoted homemaker for 50 years.

    She is survived by her brother, Duard of Indiahoma, Okla.; sons, Danny, Fred, and Jimmy, all of Wichita Falls; grandchildren, Colby, Kyle, Deric, Julie, Betty of Wichita Falls, Marc, Laura, Kevin of Houston; and 13 beautiful great-grandchildren.

    The family wishes to express their satisfaction of care from the staff of House of Hope and Hospice, their care and dedication to Alma was beyond caring, it was love and more love, forever we will be grateful. The love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us. - Romans 5:5

    The family will be at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home for visitation from 5 to 6 p.m. on Monday, January 18, 2010. Services will be on Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Sanctuary of First Christian Church on Taft Street. Entombment will be in the Crestview Memorial Park Mausoleum. Memorial gifts may be made to House of Hope or Hospice of Wichita Falls.
