    Preceded in death by husband, Harry F. and brother, Darrell Bures. Survived by daughters, Sonya Stejskal (James Mercer) and LuAnn Denholm (Bill); granddaughters, Tonya Fidler-Larson (Bill) and Nina Fidler (Josh Bundren); two great-grandsons, Drew and Cooper; and special friend, William Hayes.

    SERVICES: Thursday, October 15th, 10am, at the West Center Chapel. GRAVESIDE SERVICE: Thursday, 2pm, National Bohemian Cemetery in Milligan, Nebraska. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Gerald's Catholic Church or the Alzheimer's Association.

    Notes:

    He came to America with his parents at eleven years of age to a farm northwest of Milligan. He retired from farming in 1933, moving to Geneva. Frank is buried near both his wives at Ceski Bratri Cemetery. (Milligan, pp. 220 and 221).

    Frank Bures
    Frank Bures was born in Volenic, Czech, November 30, 1871. He departed this life at the family home at Geneva, NE after an extended illness, Saturday, November 23, 1940 at 4:17 pm, at the age of 68 years, 11 months and 23 days. When about eleven years of age he came with his parents from Europe to Nebraska and located on a farm southwest of Exeter, where he grew to manhood. He experienced all the trials the pioneer families endured. He was married to Mary Jess. They were blessed with three children, two daughters, Anna Rhola and Helen Sluka and a son, John, who survive him. His wife passed away in August, 1901. He was united in marriage to Anna Wesley, May 1, 1902. They spent many happy years of wedded life. He leaves to mourn his beloved wife anna, two sons, Edward and George, four daughters, Josephine Kutler, Agnes Schmidt, Lillian Pribyl, and Alice at home, also seven brothers and two sisters. He spent most of his early life on a farm notheast of Geneva, where he took an active interest in community affairs. He was a member of Modern Woodmen of America camp at Geneva. In 1933 he retired and moved to his home in geneva to spend the last days of his life. He was a kind and loving husband and father and will be greatly missed in the home and by the host of other relatives and friends he leaves. Funeral services were held Monday, Novemer 25, at 1 o'clock at the Kritner Funeral Home at Geneva. Rev. K O savadil of Wilber officiated. the ladies trio of Milligan sang. Interment was in North Milligan Cemetary.

    Fred applied for a marriage license on January 28, 1893 to marry Mary KABLEY, daughter of Frank and Belinda Kabley, the ceremony to be a double wedding with his brother Anton, but this marriage never took place. A year later, he married Mary JANOUSEK. Fred purchased the west forty acres of his brother's Frank homestead in Glengary Township. In addition to farming, he had a stallion at stud, and owned a threshing rig, doing work for his neighbors and friends. He had a homestead near Chugwater, Wyoming as well that he intended to retire to, but instead retired to Milligan. He fell at age 83 while doing chores, and spent much time in the hospital over the next two years until his death. (Milligan, p 364-365).

    Fred married Mary Janousek on 30 Jan 1894 in Fillmore County, Nebraska. Mary was born about 1876 in Bohemia; died on 21 Oct 1961 in Exeter, Fillmore County, Nebraska; was buried in Bohemian Brethren Cemetery (AKA Cesky Bratri Cemetery), Fillmore County, Nebraska. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

    She and her parents, Joseph and Barbara Eret Janousek, emigrated in 1882, settling first in Saline County. About six years later, her parents purchased a farm in Glengary Township.
