    In the fall of 1885 at the age of 11, he came to the United States with his father. The following spring his mother and siblings followed them here. He worked as a hired hand on many farms in the area before settling down on his own farm. (Milligan, p. 480).

    At the time of the 1900 census, she was living in Liberty Township, Fillmore County, Nebraska with her six youngest children, ans shown as a widow, born in August 1852 in Bohemia. The 1910 census showed her to be the mother of 13 children, eight of whom were still living.

    Notes:

    Mike and Mary Simacek came by boat to the United States from their native land of Bohemia in June of 1886, docking in Baltimore, Maryland. From there, they took a train to Nebraska and on the the home of their daughter, Mrs. John KASAK, northeast of Milligan, living near there the rest of their lives. They had two children, Mike, Jr. born in 1846, who married Mary POLAK and a daughter, Marie Simacek, born January 28, 1840 [note this dates is thought to be erroneous], married John A. KASAK, Sr. Mike and his wife Marie are presumed to be buried in unmarked graves in the Kasak Cemetery. (Milligan, p. 481).
