    Arthur Harold Maxey, 52, of Pineland, died Sunday morning in his home. Harold was born in Hemphill to Rufus Harold and Shirley Ann Clegg Maxey. Harold worked as a truck driver in all of the lower forty-eight states.

    He is survived by his father and step-mother Rufus and Emilie Maxey of Hemphill, his wife Jennifer Maxey of Pineland, his daughters Mahala Grace McDaniel Maxey of Pineland, Shirley Elizabeth Maxey of Many, LA, his sisters; Cheryl Maxey and finance Brent Murray of San Augustine and Angela Green and her husband Damon of Vidor, Texas; Step brothers Bryan and Keith Nabours. Harold was preceded in death by his mother Shirley Ann Clegg.

    Visitation will be from 4:00PM until 9:00PM Tuesday, September 17, 2013, in the Starr Funeral Home, 510 Starr St., Hemphill, Texas. Funeral services will be at 2:00PM, Wednesday, September 18, 2013, in the Starr Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Oakhill Cemetery, Hemphill, Texas.

    Rufus Harold Maxey, 84, of Hemphill, Texas passed away Friday, February 11, 2022 at Legacies Nursing Home and Rehabilitation in Hemphill.

    Rufus was born June 4, 1937 in Hemphill, Texas to the Dixie Bell (Ferguson) Maxey and Henry Preston Maxey. He was a member of Hemphill High School graduating Class of 1956.

    Rufus, better known as "CUZ", was a truck driver for most of his adult life. He enjoyed spending time with his friends, family and his beloved wife, Emilie. He and Miss Emilie enjoyed going on cruises, making trips to Las Vegas and going on trips to Branson, Missouri with their Rosevine Church of God family of which he was a member of Rosevine Church of God. And he dearly loved his "Legacies" family.

    He is survived by his daughter, Cheryl Procell and husband, Ronny, of Bronson; son, Keith Nabours and wife, Darlene, of Hemphill; daughter-in-law, Jennifer McDaniel Maxey of Pineland; sister, Janice Daniels of Beaumont; grandchildren, Elizabeth Buttrey and husband, Darrell, of Dickson, TN, Jena Edgar of Vidor, Mahala Maxey of Pineland, Taylor Nabours of Hemphill, Lindsey Suggs and husband, Burney, of Lufkin, Conner Nabours and wife, Aubrey, of Lufkin and Justin Roberts and wife, Martina, of Spring; great grandchildren, Leah, Gracie, Avery, Brinlee Jo, Caylee, Conner, Riley and Newton; a host of nieces and nephews and many, many friends.

    He was preceded in death by his wife, Emilie Meyers Maxey; sons, Arthur Harold Maxey and Bryan Nabours; sister, Gay Lynn Heller; mother, Dixie Bell Ferguson Maxey and father, Henry Preston Maxey.

    Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, February 14, 2022 at Starr Funeral Home, 510 Starr Street, Hemphill, Texas.

    Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 15, 2022 in Starr Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Floyd Wright officiating.

    Burial will follow services in King Cemetery with Erik King, Robert Sepulvado, Brandon Booth, Norman Deal, Randy Fuller, Robert Tatum, and Michael Childress serving as pallbearers.

On his headstone, his date of birth is instead listed as 11 Sept 1922, one year earlier than what his Texas Death Certificate shows (11 Sept 1923).

    Nolan Ernest McDaniel, Jr.

    Nolan Ernest McDaniel, Jr., 87, of Hemphill died at 1:45 p.m. Monday, Oct. 18, 2004 at Hemphill Care Center.

    McDaniel was born Nov. 23, 1916 in Sabine County as a son of the late Lea Ella (WALKER) and Ernest McDaniel Sr. and was a member of the Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran and retired from the U.S. Forest Service as a crew supervisor. Survivors: sons, Ernest Weldon McDaniel of Hemphill and James David McDaniel of Yellowpine; daughters Margie Nell MILLER of Brookeland; and Belinda Lee McDaniel of Silsbee; brothers, James Wendell McDaniel of Yellowpine and Clement Carlin McDaniel of Hemphill, sisters, Zuda Lee TINSELY of Hemphill, and Evelyn Easley of San Juan Capistrano, California; six grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel of Starr Funeral Home Inc. in Hemphill with Bro. Vance Purtell officiating and Guvie Miller offering an eulogy. Interment followed at Oak Hill Cemetery in Sabine County. Arrangements were handled by Starr Funeral Home Inc. of Hemphill.

    Inez Blanche Ener

    Inez Blanche Ener, 94, of Pineland, died June 10, 2007 at Hemphill Care Center.

    She was born Sept. 3, 1912 in Sabine County to Howell Iles and Bena Bennett Iles. She had lived in Pineland her entire life and was a member of the Pineland Church of Christ. Shw and her late husband Bennie were owners of Ener's Store in Pineland until their retirement in 1974.

    She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Bennie C. ENER and a son, Bennie Paul ENER.

    Survivors: son, Bill ENER of Pineland; daughter, Beth McDANIEL and husband Weldon of Hemphill; seven granchildren, Elizabeth Ener PERRY and husband Bill of Mauriceville, John David ENER of Beaumont, Alan McDANIEL ane wife Kayla of Hemphill, Gay Lynne McDaniel MILLER and husband Guvie of Brookeland, Todd ENER and wife Cheryl of El Campo, Jennifer McDaniel MAXEY and husband Harold of Pineland and Jason ENER of Webster; 11 great-grandchildren, Brittany McDANIEL, Jordan PERRY, Amber WILSON, Byrun PERRY, Sara Beth McDANIEL, Gredgory PERRY, Scarlett PERRY, Patrick ENER, Ally ENER, Abby ENER, and Ty ENER; and two great-great grandchildren, Kierra and Akadynce LcBLANC.

    Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jun 12, at Starr Funeral Home in Hemphill with Bro. Guvia Miller and Bro. Bill Perry officiating. Interment followed in Pineland Cemetery.
