T.M. Ellis Jr., 90, of Brookeland, Texas passed away at his residence on Tuesday, August 4, 2015. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 6, 2015 at Shultz Funeral Home of Jasper with interment to follow at Brookeland Cemetery. The Family will greet friends on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

A native Texan, he was a lifelong resident of Brookeland, Texas. He worked as a Maintenance Supervisor for the Sabine River Authority and retired in 1987. He is survived by his daughter Nora Parsons of Pineland, Texas; brothers Charlie & wife Christine Ellis of Jasper, Texas and Sam & wife Dorothy Ellis of Brookeland, Texas; sisters Norma & husband David Sisney of Conroe, Texas, Wanda & husband Don Singleton of Porter, Texas, Laverne Powell of Brookeland, Texas, and Annie Roebuck of Brookeland, Texas; granddaughters Stacy & husband Steven Warner of Brookeland, Texas & Amanda & husband Jerry Crustner of Pineland, Texas; great grandchildren Kyle, Brodey, Brantley, Tara & Hannah; and a great great grandchild Alaynnah.

Obituary

Funeral services for Viola Powell Ellis, 90 of Brookeland, will be 10:00am Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Jasper, with burial to follow at Brookeland Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00pm Monday, August 13th, at the funeral home.

Viola passed away August 11th at her residence. A native & lifelong resident of Brookeland, she enjoyed sewing, gardening and growing flowers. She loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Travis M. Ellis, Jr. of Brookeland; daughter Nora Ellis Parsons of Pineland; brother Hollis Powell of Brookeland; two grandchildren, Stacy & husband Steven, and Amanda & husband Jerry; and five great-grandchildren, Kyle, Tara, Hannah, Brodey & Brantley. Viola was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin & Molly Lowe Powell; four brothers, Elbert, Wilburn, Harvey & Lincoln; and one sister, Maddie Roberts. Services are under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Jasper.

However, CR Burkhead, on the FindAGrave memorial page he created, lists his parents as Richard Ealie Powell and Mary Ann Gay, and spouse of Margarette Elizabeth Martin.

A J Powell was born 14 Mar 1855-died 7 Aug 1927. Did this listing of her husband as A J Powell perhaps relate to a second marriage for Margaret, or was it simply an error?
