    Notes:

    Myron graduated from Milligan in 1965, after which he completed a training course in meat cutting at the National School of Meat Cutting in Toledo, Ohio. Upon his return to the Milligan community, he opened Milligan Locker and Meats with his parents until late 1970. Closing the locker, he moved to Lincoln where he was employed by Harold's Jack and Jill in Hickman, Nebraska. (Milligan, p 288).

  1. 4.  Alois "Lew" Hamouz was born on 19 Oct 1909 in Fillmore County, Nebraska (son of Anton A. Hamouz and Antonie Koca); died on 21 Jan 1979.

    Notes:

    A 1928 graduate of Milligan Public School, he began farming near Milligan. After his marriage, he and Helen moved to a farm west of Milligan, on Section 11, Glengary Township. This farm was purchased by Lew's grandparents, Vaclav and Anna (Sopr) KOCA from the Chicago Burlington and Omaha Railroad. Lew was interested and active in civic and community activities. He was a charter member of the Milligan Volunteer Fire Department, on the Glengary Township Board, a member of the Milligan Board of Education and on the Fillmore County Redistricting Committee.     Alois married Helen I. Radil on 20 Sep 1938 in Wilber, Saline County, Nebraska. Helen (daughter of Albert L. Radil and Agnes Yeck) was born on 15 Jul 1915 in Western, Saline County, Nebraska; died on 28 Mar 1998 in Friend, Saline County, Nebraska; was buried in Bohemian Brethren Cemetery (AKA Cesky Bratri Cemetery), Fillmore County, Nebraska.     Helen graduated from Milligan High School in 1933, and studied Normal Training, including taking education courses through the University of Nebraska. She taught in several rural schools in Saline County. During winter the pupils surrounded the pot belly stove with their lunch pails in hopes of having their food at least room temperature. Teachers were the janitors and even carried in the coal and cobs from outdoors. After many years of helping her husband with the family farm, her interest in youth led her to seek employment at the Youth Development Center in Geneva, Nebraska in 1971. She retired in 1985.     RAVENNA - Leona Lockhorn, 90, of Ravenna died Monday, Nov. 22, 2010, at Good Samaritan Center in Ravenna. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Ravenna. The Rev. Martin Egging will officiate. Burial will be in the Highland Park Cemetery in Ravenna. Wake services will be at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the church. Rasmussen Funeral Home in Ravenna is in charge of arrangements.

    Mrs. Lockhorn was born Nov. 29, 1919, in Rockville to Karl and Frieda (Jaeschke) Jakob. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Lockhorn. Survivors of the immediate family include three daughters and sons-in-law, Fayrene and Myron Hamouz, Lucille and Frank Schultz and Janice and Kirk Vifquain; a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Patricia Lockhorn. Additional survivors include grandchildren, Michelle Hamouz, Mark Schultz, Sherry Schultz, Scott Lockhorn, Amy King and husband, Sean Casey, David Vifquain and wife, Gina and Aubrey Vifquain and fiance, Robert Novotny, great-granddaughter, Lydia King, sisters-in-law, Rose Jakob and Rosanda Schroll, nieces and nephews.

    She married Edward Lockhorn on April 29, 1941, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ravenna. They made their home on a farm northeast of Ravenna. She worked as a cook at Ravenna Public Schools.     Notes:

    Anton worked at the Taylor and Burke grain elevator in Milligan. He was later employed by Victor Laun and Company, general merchandiser, and eventually went into business with his brother-in-law, founding the firm of Hamouz and Stech. Anton was an early user of new technology. He installed a telephone between his store and home in June, 1900. In 1910, he dug a basement under his home in order to intall a light plant for electricity. He was the fifth person in Milligan to own a car, buying one in 1913. He was active in Civic events, serving as county supervisor for Glengary Township for several terms. He was also a member of the Sokol Society, the Knights of Columbus, and the Catholic Workmen.
