Terry Dwain White

Terry Dwain White, 58, of Lumberton, formerly of Sabine County, died Saturday, June 8, 2002, at his residence.

White was a native of Pineland and had lived in Nome several years before moving to Lumberton three years ago. He had worked for the Exxon Mobil Chemical Company as a pipefitter for 33 years.

Survivors: wife, Mary Nancy Courts White of Lumberton; a son, Darin Christiff White of Lumberton; a daughter Mallory Suzanne White of Lumberton; mother-in-law, Louise Courts of Beaumont; a sister-in-law, Theresa White of Killeen; a niece, Kim Mischek of Irving, and a nephew, Patrick White of Irving.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arvil and Lula White, and a borhter, Klaus Wayne White.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 11, at the Kelley & Watkins Funeral Home chapel in Beaumont. Interment followed at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery in Beaumont.

Arvil White

Riley Arvil White, 83, of Pineland died early Friday, September 16, 1994, at this residence on U.S. Highway 96.

Funeral services were held Sunday at the chapel of Starr Funeral Home Inc in Hemphill with R. L. Tate and Bill Jeter officiating. Interment followed at Pine Hill Cemetery in Sabine County.

Born Oct. 29, 1910, in Sabine County, White had been a long-time resident of Pineland. He was a retired self-employed logging contractor and farmer.

Survivors: wife, Mary Jane White of Pineland; a son, Terry White of Nome, Texas; step-daughters, Nomia Mistretta, May Ann White, and Sandra Crow, all of Pineland; a step-son J. D. Brown of Pineland; a brother R. B. White of Pineland; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Riley married Lula Mae Sanford. Lula (daughter of Ebb Hillard Sanford and Alice Letitia "Lucy" Roberts) was born on 9 Jun 1913 in Texas; died on 12 Sep 1983 in Sabine County, Texas; was buried in Pine Hill Cemetery, Pineland, Sabine County, Texas. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Per OLDTIMERS OF SABINE COUNTY "Mrs. Florence Carrico White celebrated her 87th birthday at her home in the Pinehill Community on Sunday, July 20, 1969. The day began pretty much as usual for Mrs. White, who lives alone, getting up a little later than she used to, to prepare her breakfast. A few friends and members of the family stopped in before she went to church to wish her well, but when the church services ended, Rev. Holt and the entire congregation went home with Mrs. White for a surprise birthday party. She was really surprised. Other friends and relatives were waiting there to help her celebrate with gifts and refreshments. Out of county visitors for the day included Mr. and Mrs. Alan V. White and infant son of Houston; Mr and Mrs Charlie Lane of Jasper, Mr and Mrs Lewis Rigsby and children, Cathy and Kyle, of Beaumont; and Miss Gale White of Nacogdoches. Mrs. White, the wife of the late R.W. White of Pinehill, was born in Panola County, near the little town of Gary. Her parents were William David and Mary Charlotte Gary Carrico, the daughter of James Henry Gary, born in Alabama. He came to East Texas with his brothers, Govey and Ike, and many of their descendants still live in East Texas. James Wilkerson, early Indian fighter and hero of San Jacinto, was Mrs. White's paternal grandparents (sic). He too left many descendants in East Texas."

White and Toole show her as a daughter of Littleton Fowler ROBERTS and Mollie BLACKMAN. Her siblings are shown as C. C. Roberts, Joseph Roberts, Fannie Roberts, and Magdalena Roberts. They stated that Littleton Fowler Roberts was "Probably the son of Moses F and Nancy Roberts who lived in Shelby County, Texas at the time of the 1850 Census. Also in the household at that time was a 74 year old Margaret Roberts (grandmother?). (White and Toole, p 66)."
