Joseph Herynk

Notes:

Joseph became the owner of his parents farm in 1922. Later his daughter and son-in-law, Agnes and Henry Kassik owned it. Their sons, Ralph and Richard Kassik are the fourth generation to own and farm the land. Joe was a member of the Lodge Svatopluk Chech of Milligan for over 50 years (Milligan, p 299).

Joseph married Anna Dlouhy on 22 Feb 1909 in Geneva, Fillmore County, Nebraska. Anna (daughter of Adolph Dlouhy and Marie A. Cvach) was born on 6 Jun 1889 in Milligan, Fillmore County, Nebraska; died on 8 Jun 1965 in Tobias, Saline County, Nebraska; was buried in Bohemian National Cemetery (Milligan South), Milligan, Fillmore County, Nebraska. "(Four couples) celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary February 22, 1959....They were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Capek, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Capek, Mrs. and Mrs. Frank Hromadka, and Mrs. and Mrs. Joseph Herynk. The Capeks and Hromadkas celebrated their 50th anniversary at the Milligan Auditorium and the Herynks celebrated their 50th anniversary at Tobias Hall." (Milligan, p 236)

2. Emilie H. Herynk was born on 27 Apr 1911 in Nebraska; died on 14 Sep 1995 in Milligan, Fillmore County, Nebraska.
3. Anna A. "Annie" Herynk was born on 14 May 1913 in Tobias, Saline County, Nebraska; died on 3 Dec 1997 in Tobias, Saline County, Nebraska; was buried in Atlanta Center Cemetery, Saline County, Nebraska.
4. Blanche Marie Herynk was born on 22 Jul 1916 in Tobias, Saline County, Nebraska; died on 23 Sep 2013 in Long Beach, Los Angeles County, California; was buried on 30 Sep 2013 in Bohemian National Cemetery (Milligan South), Milligan, Fillmore County, Nebraska.
5. Allene B. Herynk was born on 27 Jul 1918 in Saline County, Nebraska; died on 26 Mar 2000 in Saline County, Nebraska; was buried in Bohemian National Cemetery (Milligan South), Milligan, Fillmore County, Nebraska.

Notes:

They traveled to America with the John CAPEK family, arriving at Exeter April 27, 1880. They were brought to the Anton and Frank SVEC home, and assisted them in brick making. They later purchased the n 1/2 SW 1/4 of Section 27, Glengary Township, from John VEJRASKA, and adding the S 1/2 of this quarter section in January of 1892, buying it from Vaclav VEJRASKA. (Milligan, p 299).

Anton married Terezie Vejraska. Terezie (daughter of Jan Vejraska and Rosalie Sladek) was born on 15 Oct 1852 in Lodenice, Nov? Stra?ec?, Bohemia; died on 21 Jan 1942 in Nebraska; was buried in Bohemian National Cemetery (Milligan South), Milligan, Fillmore County, Nebraska. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Married:
The biography of Anton J. Capek, Jr. in the Milligan book list his grandparents as "Joseph and Marie Vejraska Herynk," and goes on to note that they "came to America with the Capeks in 1880." (p 233). Their oldest son was born and died in Bohemia before they emigrated to the United States. (p 299).

Notes:

A mason and brickmaker. He was also a ardent gardener. With much crossing, he succeeded in raising a blue rose (Milligan, p 243).
