George W. Haney

George W. Haney may have been in Texas at least as early as 1900. A listing that appears to be for him can be found on in Milam County. As of that census, a 22 year old George W. Haney, still single, can be found listed as a boarder in the home of Jefferson and Georgia APLIN. George's date of birth was listed as September 1877, with his place of birth shown as Texas, with his father being listed as born in Alabama and his mother as being born in Arkansas. From subsequent census records, it appears that he was actually born in Arkansas, not Texas. His occupation was listed as farmer.

Around 1907, George married Lenora Barge. At the time of the 1910 census, George and Lenora were living in a home with two other families in Limestone County, Texas. Limestone County was just northeast of Milam. One of the familes sharing their home was headed by Nora's brother, Willis BARGE. The other family was that of John and Laura POTTER. The relationship of the POTTER family to either George or Lenora, if any, is not known.

George married Lenora "Nora" Barge about 1907. Lenora (daughter of William "Billie" George Barge and Martha "Mattie" Hines) was born in Mar 1886 in Arkansas; and died. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

1. Mary E. Haney was born about 1908 in Texas; died before 1920 in Texas.
2. Willis M. Haney was born about 1910 in Texas.
3. Doyle Monroe Haney was born on 12 May 1912 in Bartlett, Williamson County, Texas; died on 26 Dec 1998 in Mexia, Limestone County, Texas; was buried in Lost Prairie Cemetery, Groesbeck, Limestone County, Texas.
4. Wilmer Clifton Haney was born on 5 Aug 1914 in Texas; died on 2 Feb 1992 in Harris County, Texas.
